It’s one of those products that will serve its owner for years on end. And then it can be resoled and given a second life.
The Crossfire 3 TA is identical to the company’s Crossfire 3 SR model, except for the sole, which is sewn on (TA = Traditional Application) , yielding a grippier tread and more flexible fit than the more rigid SR version.
This boot is much better suited for woods riders and desert racers who know they’ll be on their feet as well as on the pegs. Besides being comfortable to wear or ride in “out of the box,” these boots provide excellent brake lever feel, and can be repaired by any skilled old-school cobbler.
The boot is also sized slighter wider than other boots from Sidi, which otherwise has a reputation for boots that run on the narrow side.
In terms of protective features, the Crossfire 3 has an ankle pivot system designed to provide a hard limit of foot/ankle hyperextension. It’s also got copious shin protection built in, and a reinforced toe and heel cup for taking hits from trailside debris.
Another nice touch: the boot’s calf plate system features an inner double adjustment that expands to fit even the largest calf or knee brace system.
